“For about two years before Macchi, Bronson and I had gotten increasingly bored with experiencing the Italian cars we love at traditional concours events on golf courses. While it was great to see the cars and connect with friends, these concours events seemed stuffy to us. We missed seeing younger enthusiasts and, honestly, we missed the fun of a good party around cool cars. When we became friends with Dorian, and talked to him about this, he agreed, saying:

‘Car shows need more

of a pulse.’

We started sketching out the kind of show that we would want to attend: a little bit punk rock, a little bit Villa d’Este, and a whole lot of Los Angeles—a curated experience for vintage, modern, and modified Italian cars and motorcycles at a cool and engaging location. We wanted to have a great time with friends in the presence of all manner of Italian vehicles, from gorgeous coach-built classics to more modern ones, from special one-offs to cars built for regular use by enthusiasts — and later, motorcycles. We thought this concept would have cross-generational appeal and attract a younger audience than the typical concours.

The rest, as they say, is history.”
